sane snowboarding

As I am currently looking for my first own snowboard set (bindings, board, boots), I stumpled upon this (really great) video from the sane! crew which they just released 1month ago (relating to the date it was uploaded on vimeo). For me, it made me want to grab a board and hit the runway, instantaneously!

dell latitude e4300 – post review

As I am using my Latitude E4300 for almost 3 months now, I decided to write a post review to point out how it really is, working with the E4300.

As you might have read here on my blog, I successfully installed Archlinux on it (see the “Publications” section for some tutorials or search the blog for the “latitude” tag).
After configuring Powerdevil (power management) and cpufreq (as the name says: cpu clocking), the E4300 is really stocked well now. The standard cpu-clock is 800MHz each core which is way enough for just browsing and doing some office work.
I did not yet manage to get “suspend to disk” or “suspend to ram” working but this is mostly due to lack of time to deal with it.

What is a great thing to mention is that the HDD issues are “almost” solved with Linux running on it. At least the frequent disk access lowered to around 1/20sec which is definitly not as annoying as 1/2sec !

Since some days, I am using my external 22″ Flatscreen monitor and my external mouse/keyboard again- just due to the comfort of having a bigger screen and some bigger keyboard. Still, I was quite comfortable with the E4300’s keyboard and touchpad (which I also configured, see this post).

So I got to say I am rather happy with my E4300 now that Arch is up and running! Some of the “old” issues got obliterated, the former pros are still valid.
If you got any questions concerning the E4300 and Linux, feel free to comment on any post concerning this topic.

Hey folks, I just signed in for the half-marathon in heilbronn this year! I just HAD to save that 5€ you get when signing in until today..
So I am going to run that 20.1km on the 17th of May this year- in Heilbronn at the “Trollinger Marathon”.

Means: I do have 104 days left from now on, to train on these 20km. Let’s hope I will be prepared until then! Should work.. I’m rather confident this will turn out being a good thing.
At least I will have reached one of my goals 2009 then!
